Who We Are

We are an innovation center for development policy, working to drive deep, structural transformations in Argentina.

For us, innovation means tackling the country’s challenges from a big-picture perspective and offering solutions that are not only practical but also rigorously proven. Our ultimate goal is to ensure these solutions help build an Argentina where everyone can thrive: productive, sustainable, stable, forward-looking and connected — a nation defined by shared well-being.

Our diagnosis of the challenges facing Argentina is not unique: macroeconomic instability, stagnant productivity, persistent poverty and inequality, and a weakened state with eroded legitimacy. Yet, our hallmark is clear: every idea and project must blend technical rigor with creativity, practical application, and real political traction. We aim to move beyond mere diagnosis to actually driving change — shifting the focus from the logic of public conversation to structural impact.

Our History

Fundar was set up  in 2020 with a conviction we still hold today: Argentina has everything it takes to secure  inclusive and sustainable development.

From day one, we set out to contribute to this development by designing evidence-based public policies and engineering public goods that serve both society and the State. From the start, we have worked hard to keep one foot firmly in political reality and the other in technical rigor. What was missing — and still often is — was a genuine bridge between technical expertise and politics, one that would allow the design of long-term public policies to be rooted  in both solid evidence and the experience of countries with similar paths. We have come a long way since those first steps, and we take great pride in this journey.

From the outset, we have always envisioned a more prosperous nation, a fairer society, and a State with the capacity to deliver robust public policies. At heart, we have always believed a better future for Argentina is possible.

Our dreams have not wavered — but we know dreams alone are never enough. That is why today we deem it imperative to recalibrate our priorities: channeling our energies into actionable proposals and practical  tools for those tasked with day-to-day governance and investment decisions, while continuing the rigorous applied policy research that distinguishes us. Our focus cannot be limited to policymakers alone. We believe in reaching the entire policy community, broadly defined. This is why we also strive to encourage active citizen participation — essential, in our view, for building a more inclusive and pluralistic approach.

Now that we have a clear picture of the issues we have studied over the past few years, the time has come to take the next step, forging  alliances to bring our ideas into practice and piloting initiatives to test and scale solutions that can truly change our reality. Reinventing Fundar so that we can make a stronger, more decisive contribution to Argentina’s transformation. This is the new chapter we are writing in our story.

A Committed Team

Fundar is, above all, a community of people deeply committed to Argentina. We do not sit on the sidelines: we take a stand against the inequality and stagnation holding the country back. In a climate that often swings between false promises and deep pessimism, we choose a different path — an act of bold rationality. We believe a better future is possible, and we are working to help build it.

Our Principles

Democracy must guarantee equal opportunity. Recognizing deep-seated inequalities is the first step toward repairing them and creating an inclusive society. In our view, a truly democratic Argentina requires far more than going to the polls every two years. We believe in an active society, engaged in ongoing public debate and speaking up in every possible forum. We believe in a State that builds the communication channels necessary for those voices to be heard.

Today, the State — and the welfare state in particular — is too often cast as a kind of enemy of progress, an obstacle to individual development. But our task is not to “rescue” the State as a relic of the past missed while wasting time polishing it. Our mission is to reimagine it as a tool for the future. If Argentina will succeed in developing, it will not be by fighting the State, but by putting the State at the center of the process. Building a new nation will also require transforming the state capabilities we have inherited, to make sure they are up to the challenge.

We are passionate about the exchange of ideas. In Argentina, so much remains to be debated — and even more to be achieved. We believe in Argentina’s potential to become a great country, while fully acknowledging its shortcomings. Like it or not, Argentina is still a country in the making. And here we are, ready to roll up our sleeves so that the work does not remain unfinished.

Plurality is a cornerstone for the advancement of modern societies.

Argentina’s Four Strategic Challenges
What Is Our Role?

We seek to shape public agendas and help build a fairer, more inclusive, and more democratic Argentina. In this pursuit, we embrace four key roles:

1 – Applied research and knowledge creation:

We produce knowledge and public goods grounded in rigor and evidence.

2 – Public policy design

We craft and promote public policies informed by statistical and machine-learning models, comparative methods, and applied research. Together with partners, we pilot development policies that turn ideas and designs into tangible interventions.

3 – Digital tool development:

Twenty-first century development must be rooted in the innovations of our time. That is why we work on engineering digital assistants, databases, and community platforms.

4 – Strategic advocacy and influence networks:

We build alliances and harness communication as a policy lever with the power to shift common sense, create new development narratives, and foster consensus.
